Master Bedroom Updates

I’ve posted some additional pictures of the master bedroom. On one side was a built in dresser and desk with a mirror. It took up a lot of space in the bedroom and looked pretty dated so we had it removed.

Built in drawers and desk on right

Upon removal it was discovered that there had been a sink at some point in time. In the bedroom? Oh, the things you find when demolishing!

What is THAT doing in there?

As you may have noticed, the entire room is a lot of wood! Mahogany wood panelling, to be precise. When the desk and drawers were removed, that side of walls was trashed.  Our contractor actually  managed to find some mahogany panelling and stained it to match the rest of the room.

There is now more wood than I could ever have dreamed of in this room. Which is going to present some interesting design ideas for this room to offset all – that – wood….
Not a bad view from our bedroom!!
We are going to be removing the atrium. This was put in some time in the early 80’s and I’m not sure why, because it’s about 100 degrees when the sun is shining – even in the winter! There is one, count it, one, window in the atrium that opens – the only window that opens in the entire bedroom!! It’s pretty stuffy! It sure is going to be nice to have a sliding glass door that will open to the deck!
